Museums now embrace opportunities to work with a range of communities and to develop a variety of partnerships. Recent research has also re-conceptualised the relationships between objects and between objects and people. This conference explored the ways in which museum collections can inspire and benefit from a range of collaborations, and the opportunities brought by different disciplinary perspectives.

Speakers included representatives from the British Museum, National Museums Scotland, the Powell-Cotton Museum and the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology in Cambridge, as well as colleagues from Europe and Canada. The conference theme encouraged a multi disciplinary approach and so the conference also had interesting papers presented by artists and educators.
