For nearly 50 years, MEG has led conversations around ethnographic material, photographs, and archives in museums. We regularly convene – both online and in person – in supportive spaces to explore the challenges and responsibilities involved in the care, use, and display of these materials, past and present.

Personal Membership

The membership year runs from 1 April to 31 March.

Individual members receive:

  • The latest issue of the Journal of Museum Ethnography (JME)
  • Discounts on MEG’s Annual Conference and other events
  • Access to a programme of events supporting professional development
  • A regular e-newsletter with news, reviews, opportunities, and event updates
  • Online access to the JME back issue archive via JSTOR (login details are sent at the start of each membership year)

We also offer a concessionary rate for individuals earning under £18,000 per year (or equivalent).

Institutional Membership

Do you work for an accredited museum in the UK or Ireland but don’t need personal membership? Institutions can join MEG for £35 per year.

Institutional membership includes:

  • One nominated individual who can attend MEG events at the member rate and vote at the AGM
  • Museums and libraries outside the UK and Ireland can subscribe to the Journal of Museum Ethnography for £40 (or equivalent) per year.
