Write for the JME!
Contributions cover all aspects of contemporary and historical practice that address global cultures collections, including collecting and collectors, conservation, curation, display and exhibition, documentation, ethics, fieldwork, photography, repatriation, research and theory.
The JME is not typically peer-reviewed, but peer review can be arranged for individual articles if needed. Authors should inform the editor at the time of submission.
If you are interested in writing for the JME, please contact the Editor in the first instance.
General Guidance
Long and short articles:
Articles should not exceed 8,000 words. Shorter contributions of no more than 4,000 words – including research notes and ‘work-in-progress’ reports on recent acquisitions, discoveries, conferences, exhibitions, and projects – are especially welcome. Contributions on global cultures collections outside the UK are also welcome.
Reviews:
Book reviews should be between 1000–2000 words in length.
Gallery and exhibitions reviews should be under 1500 words in length and accompanied by at least three images.
The JME does not accept unsolicited reviews. Material and suggestions for review should be sent to the appropriate editor.
If you are planning to submit an article or review please consult our Notes for Contributors for information on layout, style, citations, images and our editing process.
