Keeping Connected: Special Focus on Repatriation Work in Bristol

11:00am to 4:00pm, Wednesday 3rd September 2025, Bristol Museum and Art Gallery.

Join us for the next Keeping Connected event, centred on repatriation work in Bristol. For several years, Bristol Museum and Art Gallery and the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) have been engaged in discussions about returning cultural heritage to Australia. This event will reflect on those conversations with AIATSIS staff and community members, providing an opportunity to explore practical guidance and shared experiences in repatriation.

As calls for the return of ancestral belongings increase, many museums face challenges in responding responsibly and effectively. This gathering aims to continue important conversations in a safe, supportive, and practical environment, drawing on the deep knowledge of MEG members experienced in complex repatriation processes.

Whether you are currently involved in repatriation, developing relevant policies, or simply interested in learning more, this in-person event offers a valuable chance to connect with museum professionals across the UK, exchange ideas, and build peer support.
