Nigerian Collections Discovery Day
12:00pm to 4:00pm, Saturday 19th October 2024, World Museum, National Museums Liverpool.
Join the World Museum Liverpool to explore the collections of Nigerian art and artefacts and learn more about the Rethinking Relationships project.
This free event will feature in person talks from Nigerian experts Chinelo Njaka, Dr. Aderemi Ajala and Omotayo Omitola where you can hear about their research and see the objects that inspired them. As well as seeing objects that are usually in storage, you will be able to engage in activities and even get to handle some of the collection!
The event will give people an opportunity to learn more about a new project which hopes to involve people based both in Merseyside and Nigeria, and provide meaningful access to the collections. Any group or individuals who are interested in shaping the project can do so. This might include feedback sessions, historical research, creative responses, contributions to new learning resources, and/or the chance to be involved in a new community curated display!
We hope to see you there but if you cannot attend and think you want to be involved in the project, please email rethinkingrelationships@prm.ox.ac.uk to learn more.
Rethinking Relationships is funded by Arts Council England.
