Write for the JME!
The JME publishes work on all aspects of historical and contemporary practice related to global cultures collections. Topics include (but are not limited to): collecting and collectors, conservation, curation, display and exhibition, documentation, ethics, fieldwork, photography, repatriation, research, and theory.
The journal is not typically peer-reviewed; however, peer review can be arranged for individual articles upon request. Authors should notify the editor at the time of submission.
If you are interested in writing for the JME, please contact the Editor in the first instance.

Full-length articles should not exceed 8,000 words. We particularly welcome shorter submissions (up to 6,000 words), including research notes, project updates, and ‘work-in-progress’ reflections on recent acquisitions, discoveries, conferences, and exhibitions. Contributions focusing on collections or practices outside the UK are also encouraged.
Reviews:
- Book reviews should be between 1000–2000 words in length.
- Gallery and exhibitions reviews should be under 1500 words in length and accompanied by at least three images.
Please note: the JME does not accept unsolicited reviews. Suggestions for review content should be sent to the relevant editor.
